What Are Quebec Ministerial Examinations?
Quebec Ministerial Examinations (Épreuves ministérielles) are standardized provincial assessments administered by the Ministry of Education. They are designed to evaluate students’ knowledge and competencies in key subject areas and are held at specific grade levels in both elementary and secondary school.
At the elementary level, ministerial exams account for 20% of the student’s final grade, with the remaining 80% determined by school-based evaluations such as class participation, assignments, quizzes, and final exams.
For Secondary IV (Sec 4) and Secondary V (Sec 5) students, ministerial exams represent 50% of the final course grade, making exam performance a decisive factor in academic assessment and progression.
